# 🛡️ StringGuard for Unity

The crash-proof localization gatekeeper for Unity indie devs.

Stop broken builds before they happen. StringGuard syncs localization data directly from Google Sheets into RAM, validates tokens & string lengths, and refuses to write to disk if any errors are found.

---

### ⚠️ Why StringGuard?

When collaborating with external translators or community members via Google Sheets:

- Translators accidentally delete format variables like {0}, {playerName}, or %s.

- Passing these into C# string.Format() causes an immediate FormatException and crashes your game build.

- Longer translations (e.g. German/Russian) often overflow UI buttons without being noticed.

StringGuard acts as a safety gatekeeper in your Unity Editor—catching all errors in memory before touching your project files.

---

### ✨ Features

- In-RAM Gatekeeper: Never overwrites strings.csv until 100% validated.

- Token Missing Linter: Catches deleted or mistyped tokens ({0}, {playerName}) via regex.

- UI Overflow Guard: Enforces MaxChars limits per key.

- Zero Cloud Setup: No Google Cloud Console, OAuth, or API keys required. Just paste a view-only share link.

- One-Click Workflow: Pulls data, lints, saves to CSV, and refreshes the asset database instantly.

---

### 🚀 Quick Start

1. In Unity, open Tools > StringGuard > Sync Strings.

2. Paste your Google Sheet URL (ensure sharing is set to "Anyone with the link can view").

3. Click Sync & Validate.

4. If there's an error, StringGuard flags the exact row and problem. Fix it in the sheet, hit sync again, and you're good to go!
